The Chakra Series: Chakra #6, The Third Eye

The Third Eye Chakra is located in the centre of the forehead. Physically, this Chakra relates to our brain, the pituitary endocrine gland, eyes, ears, and nose. Emotionally and mentally the Third Eye Chakra relates to our intelligence and our mental selves. It is where we find our psychological characteristics. This is the combination of what you know, what you believe is the truth and your own personal life experiences.

It is the Chakra of wisdom.

The Third Eye deals with your intuition, and your sense of purpose and direction in your life. It regulates our psychic abilities, our ability for forgiveness and compassion, our consciousness and imagination. It is here where we become more open minded.

Fears associated with the Third Eye Chakra include the fear of judgment, the unwillingness to look within yourself, and the fear of having the wool pulled over your eyes.

Physically, an imbalance in your Third Eye Chakra can lead to headaches and migraines, a lack of sleep, hormonal imbalances, sinusitis, eye fatigue, hearing issues, and seizures.

A blocked Third Eye can manifest as poor judgement and imagination, a lack of focus, and the inability to see beyond our physical world.

An overactive Third Eye on the other hand can show up as nightmares, delusions, hallucinations, obsessiveness and seeing too many spirits.

Strengths associated with the Third Eye Chakra include intellectual skills and abilities, intuitiveness, and emotional intelligence.

When the Third Eye is balanced, one can experience being imaginative, intuitive, having clear thoughts and vision, and seeing beyond the physical realm.

Sacred truth of the Third Eye Chakra: Seek only the Truth. This truth is constantly guiding us to seek out the difference between what is true and what is illusion.

This Chakra is related to light, intuition, imagination and the colour indigo.

Ways to help balance our third eye chakra:

  • Crystals: Lapis Lazuli, quartz, star sapphire

  • Essential oil: Bergamot: apply a drop on forehead between eyes to clear clouded judgments. Can also be diffused, or inhaled to stay connected to higher ground.

***Bergamot is photosensitive: use it at night or use sunscreen if you use it during the day

***when applying essential oils to skin, please use them in carrier oils. See my post about it here: https://www.spiritandsole.ca/post/using-crystals-and-essential-oils-properly-when-working-on-our-chakras

  • Affirmation: I listen to my intuition everyday, I am connected to my highest truth, I trust that my life is unfolding exactly as it should, I am open to my intuitive abilities and use them for my highest good.

  • Yoga Pose: downward dog

  • Mantra: OM

  • Foods: Grapes, raisins, purple cabbage, eggplant

  • Herbs: Eyebright, juniper, mug wort, poppy, rosemary, lavender, poppy seed

What a Reiki Practitioner will be able to do is to channel universal life force healing energies into your energy field to help balance out not only your Third Eye Chakra, but all 7 main body Chakras.

Want to be able to work on yourself? A Reiki Master/Teacher will be able to teach you this beautiful form of healing and attune you to the energies so that you can work on your Chakras through self-treatments.
